RIP Corinne DAY

After rumors emerged over the weekend that Day passed away, Vogue.it confirms she died on Saturday at the age of 45 after a long battle with a brain tumor. Day famously shot Kate Moss for The Face in 1990 and is credited with helping launch the model's career. (Vogue Italy)

In 1993 Day photographed Kate Moss in her own flat for British Vogue. In the context of a fashion magazine the images appear to have a documentary feel about them and when published caused a certain frisson of discomfort.

I still remember the first time I came across one of her pictures... I was about 9 years old...
I'm in my parents' house in south of France , looking at all those top models in one of my mum's fashion magazine. AT the time I was already day dreaming about the magic of art and fashion.
Naomi, Claudia , Eva.... then something catches my attention ... finally something fresh and different, something that makes my little 9 years-old self feel uncomfortable...
Kate Moss shot by Day in her apartment ... I didn't really understand what it was at the time but I knew for sure that I had this 'weird' feeling...
Only now I know ... It was the beauty of Day's art... A feeling that only her was able to capture. I was feeling myself the pain , the need of help and the need of love in Kate's eyes.
I can only put words on this feeling now that I grew up , but this is how Day entered my life in 1993...
