Sony BMG might drop J.Lo!

Following the flop that was Brave, Sony BMG is looking to drop Jennifer Lopez, according to former OK! Magazine Gossip Girl Courtney H. Sources at Epic, Sony’s parent company, tell Court that the label is sick of footing the bill for promotion of Jenn’s lackluster LPs.

“She costs too much money and doesn’t sell enough,” says the source. “Her last album cover alone cost $60,000 in hair and makeup, lighting, photographers, re-touching, etc. The video budget was in the neighborhood of $300,000.”

“Epic had to eat the cost for that entire performance. From her makeup which typically costs in the neighborhood of $8,000 per day to the backup singers, to the rigging, lighting and sound. The woman requires everything short of flying monkeys to get on a stage.”

“Sony and Epic might keep her, but she’ll be doing little more than greatest hits albums. That you can do without incurring a huge cost. The label is tired of throwing money away.” Jennifer recent appearance on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars reportedly set the label back $60,000. (source: Pop Crunch)

The Lost Highway tour will reach the UK and Europe next year, and dates for the shows will be announced soon. The band made this announcement during their concert at the Prudential Arena in their hometown of Newark, New Jersey, on Thursday night.

The members of the group were pictured posing with workers at the arena at a sound check earlier in the week.

New Jennifer Lopez Fragrance!

Jennifer Lopez is launching a new fragrance called "Deseo", it's her first fragrance which will embed her latin american heritage. "Deseo" is due to be out sometime in February, 2008.

Here's what Jennifer had to say about her new fragrance:

“I have a lot of synergy happening in my life right now that is taking me back to my roots and to everything that I’m about and how I was raised,” said Lopez. “This is what I really find my heart is into. It’s the first time I have decided to use a Spanish word for one of our fragrances. We really look at where I am at in my life and what is important to me at that time. But the one thing that we have always concentrated on from the beginning is to be as truthful as we can.”

Prince's 'Purple Rain' has been voted the best film soundtrack of all time.

The album, which accompanied the 1984 film of the same name in which Prince starred, tops a list of the 50 Greatest Movie Soundtracks compiled by the editors of Vanity Fair magazine.
The magazine's bosses said: "The 'Purple Rain' soundtrack is a flawless combination of funk, R'n'B, pop, metal and even psychedelia into a sound that defined the '80s."

'Purple Rain' spawned several hit singles, including 'When Doves Cry', 'Let's Go Crazy' and 'I Would Die 4 U', and during the year of its release Prince topped the US film, singles and album charts at the same time.

In second place was The Beatles' 'A Hard Day's Night', while the soundtrack to 'The Harder They Come' came in at number three.
