Artest Gives Away $18,000 In Tickets To Game 1

Ron Artest came out so ready to play in his first ever NBA finals appearance that he got a technical foul for scrimmaging with Paul Pierce in the first minute. He went on to score 15 points on 5-10 shooting, 3-5 from downtown and 2-2 from the line. He had a Laker high 2 steals and a game high +26 ratio.
He also ignited the play of the night with a blocked shot takeaway on Big Baby Davis that led to a fast break dunk for Pau Gasol.
Perhaps even more impressive than all that is the $18,000 he spent in buying 2 courtside seats to give away to fans in a contest.
"In the season I've been giving away a lot of tickets," Artest said. "I've been buying tickets and giving them away to fans, but it was championship time and I thought the fans deserved to sit courtside.
"Most of my fans can't afford the ticket prices to come to any of the games, let alone the finals. I wanted to treat a fan to something they normally never have access to, so they could feel like one of the stars for the night.
"I feel like just a regular person at the end of the day, and I wanted to be able to share my first Finals experience with one of my regular fans."
