Kevin Garnett is not dead.
He's the emotional leader on the Celtics and he's their old school intimidator- the guy who sets the tone that they are tough, physical and ready to wreck all foes. Rondo might have taken over as their best player and spark, but Garnett's presence anchors them all and inspires them to dig deeper and play harder.
Right now, KG is arguably the best power forward still playing in the post-season. Neither Antawn Jamison nor Varejao have the skills to match Garnett, let alone stop him for the Cavs. In round 2, Garnett is destroying Jamison with 18.2 ppg. He's the leading rebounder on the Celtics and is currently 13-13 from the foul line in the series. He is easily the series' most versatile presence in the paint and best post defender.
What Garnett brings that the Cavs lack most is the Crazy Factor. Who on the Cavs is gonna let the world know that he will run through a stanchion for a win? Shaq might break backboards, but would he run through one the hard way? No, cuz he's wondering how his ass tastes.
Varejao is a wannbe tough guy. Floppers don't make the crazy cut.
LeBron, stepping and skipping like he's cute when his team has a big lead, pouting and sulking when they tank. Cute ain't crazy.
OK- Delonte West is crazy, riding around on his souped up tricycle with a shotgun and a .357. But he ain't crazy on the court like KG is.
Who on the Cavs is gonna go this deep with it?
Leon Powe was a Celtic with Garnett, and now he's on the Cavs. He's probably telling LeBron and the rest of Cleveland, "Yo, I don't know man. KG is crazy for real man. We over hear dancing and prancing but that dude is nuts yo."
Kevin Garnett is not about to let the so called king and his minions sneak into Boston to take game 6. Even if LeBron wakes from his contract daydream and has a more mvp-like night, the Celtics have enough weapons on both sides of the court to take them out at home.
KG is alive and well. The Cavs don't have enough to stop him.
