Los Phoenix Suns, with their beloved leader Steve Nash, are out of the playoffs again. They played great basketball in all 3 series of their playoff run, but didn't have enough to survive Kobe, Artest and the strategies of Phil Jackson. Nash showed tremendous heart during the playoffs by playing well despite a gashed & swollen shut eye and then a broken nose while missing only a few minutes of action in the process.
Now Los Suns face an off-season of uncertainty as power forward Amar'e Stoudemire plans to test free agency. He's been unhappy in Phoenix for some time and is likely interested in joining forces elsewhere with LeBron James or Dwyane Wade.
Losing Amar'e could work out fine for the Suns if they are able to replace him with Steve Nash's old running buddy Dirk Nowitzki. At 36, Nash is too old for rebuilding and the Suns are in a "win now" mentality. Dirk is at a similar stage in his career and would be a good fit with his offensive skills alongside the developing paint presence of Robin Lopez.
Granted, neither Nash nor Nowitzki have ever won anything beyond MVP trophies. And the Suns probably wouldn't even make the finals with Dirk in the mix. But at least their reunion would be another fun chance for them to go clubbin' like they used to back in the day.
For now, Nash is trying to help Barbosa get the hell out of Phoenix without getting arrested for being a foreigner in Arizona. The rest of Los Suns have gone clubbin' for the summer. Tequila anyone?
