Award winning actress Nicole Kidman has had quite the summer.
In addition to going peroxide blonde for her part in the upcoming thriller Paperboy, the 44-year-old Moulin Rouge star has been cast in the lead role for another spine-chiller – Stoker.
Stoker, a Park Chan-Wook directed film slated for release sometime in 2012, tells the story of an eccentric teen, India, whose enigmatic and estranged uncle returns to the family following the death of the girl’s father.
When people mysteriously start to go missing in her hometown at the same time, India begins to believe that her uncle may be the cause.
According to Indiewire, Kidman is set to play the role of the little girl’s mother and will be joined by a heavy hitting array of talent including Matthew Goode, Jacki Weaver, Lucas Till, and Mia Wasikowska.
While very few details are known about the film, we can expect that Chan-Wook – whose other films such as Oldboy and Thirst are famous for their immaculate framing, brutal subject matter, and epic twists – has more than a few surprises up his sleeve.
Singer Carrie Underwood earned an estimated $20 million between May 2010 and May 2011, according to a ranking published by Forbes on Thursday (July 21). The pretax sum makes Underwood the top earner among the show's former contestants.
She won the competition in 2005. Adam Lambert and Chris Daughtry tied for second place on the Forbes earnings list with $6 million each. Country-related Idol artists on the list include Kelly Clarkson in sixth place with $2.5 million and Kellie Pickler in eighth place with $1.8 million. The report indicated that Idol host Ryan Seacrest made $61 million, a higher sum than the 10 Idol stars' incomes combined.
The pop star Rihanna added the July 11 Birmingham concert to her "Loud" tour Tuesday, Live Nation said.
Three charities will receive donations from the show -- Project Team Up, Tuscaloosa Disaster Relief Fund and the Mayor's Disaster Relief Fund.
"Hearing about the hundreds of lives that have been lost and the communities that have been so devastated by this disaster ... I wanted to figure out a way to help," Rihanna said in a statement.
"I'm hoping that bringing the 'Loud' tour through Alabama can provide a moment of relief and raise a lot of money for the charities we are working with."
Country singerShania Twain said on Tuesday that she was so shattered by the collapse of her marriage that she feared she would never sing again. In her first TV interview in five years,She told Oprah Winfrey that she became "an emotional mess" when she found out in 2008 that her best friend and her husband had fallen for each other. "I figured mentally that I would never sing again," the five-time Grammy Award winner told Winfrey. Twain said she not only lost her husband, but her producer and co-writer when she split with in Robert John "Mutt" Lange.

Twain, whose 1997 album "Come on Over" was a huge crossover hit, revealed that she also suffers from dysphonia, an ailment where the muscles squeeze the voice box. "My fears and anxieties throughout my whole life have been slowly squeezing my voice," She told Winfrey. "I was losing it slowly and progressively." Twain chronicles the demise of her 14-year marriage and her fight to get her voice back in a new book "From This Moment On" and a documentary series "Why Not?" that debuts on Sunday on Winfrey's cable TV network OWN. She also announced on Tuesday that she would be attending the Country Music Association festival in Nashville in June -- and handed out passes to Winfrey's studio audience. In her memoir and TV documentary, the Canadian singer recounts how she grew up poor and witnessed her step-father physically abuse her mother on a regular basis only to see them both die in a car accident, leaving Twain to raise her siblings. Shania called her husband's betrayal "a trigger crisis," and "the straw that broke the camel's back of something that had already been building." Eventually, Twain found solace with Frederic Thiebaud, the husband of the woman who was once her best friend. The two married on Jan 1.
Jessica Alba and her husband Cash Warren are pregnant with their second child, and according to the actress, this time is a whole lot easier.
"Every moment was so new and kind of terrifying and now I know what to expect," she told Latina magazine. "It's like, 'It's fine, I've been there before.' With Honor, I was constantly like, 'Is she moving? Is her heart beating?' I'd worry about everything and with this baby, I don't have the same anxieties."

While her anxieties may be at bay, the star of the upcoming "Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World" is definitely having pregnancy cravings.
"Sometimes you can't get a food out of your mind," she told the mag. "I could always eat watermelon. With Honor, I loved fruit, too. It's a decent craving. You still eat cheeseburgers and pickles--you just want watermelon really bad. I don't deprive myself of anything. I eat whatever."

Jessica also has a much more relaxed approach to working out when it comes to her second pregnancy.
"I'd like to still do something five days a week, from a half hour to an hour--nothing excessive, just some moving [around]. It makes the whole pregnancy so much easier. The more fit you are, the easier the birth is, and a healthier baby you're going to have," the actress said.
Singer Carrie Underwood would be performing at the 46th annual Academy Of Country Music Awards. Although she's a megastar, a performance from Underwood at a major country awards show is about as rare and unusual as communion served at a Catholic mass.

There were plenty of spoilers on the web. But for those who waited to enjoy the surprise, the Academy of Country Music mercifully didn't make us all wait too long to find out.

It sounds like an odd combination when simply written down, despite the obvious American Idol connection (Underwood a past and much-beloved winner of the show; Tyler a current and sometimes-criticized judge). However, America's sweetheart Underwood and the 63-year-old perennial bad boy Tyler made a highly engaging combo, launching into Aerosmith's classic "Walk This Way" after ripping up "Undo It." First of all, Tyler has a bit of core sweetness about himself that compliments Underwood's good-girl veneer. And secondly, the duet almost made one believe the classically squeaky-clean Underwood--or you! Or me! Or anyone!could pass herself off as a rocker chick, if she wanted to be one. The 'Rabbit Hole' star Nicole Kidman went through "pain, loss and disappointment" during her fertility struggle.
Kidman , who welcomed Faith Margaret, her second child with country music singer Keith Urban, into the world on December 28 via a gestational carrier , admitted she suffered agonising times when trying to conceive.
She explained: "Anyone that's been in the place of wanting another child or wanting a child knows the disappointment, the pain and the loss that you go through trying and struggling with fertility.
"Fertility is such a big thing, and it's not something I've ever run away from talking about."
Nicole who also has a two-year-old daughter Sunday Rose with Keith, as well as adoptive children Isabella, 18, and Connor, 15, with ex-husband Tom Cruise explained she and her country singer spouse were in a position where while they were "desperate" for another child, but she couldn't get pregnant.
Nicole added to Australian TV show '60 Minutes': "We were in a place of desperately wanting another child. The opportunity arose for us, and I couldn't get pregnant.
"Children are children you'll die for your children. And when you feel that as parent that's the unconditional love."
Carrie Underwood must have been thrilled to hear the news that her husband, Mike Fisher, had been traded from the Ottawa Senators to the Nashville Predators on Thursday. After all, the award-winning country music star just so happens to live in Nashville, and the transaction naturally means that she'll be able to spend more time with her beloved.

But Kidman, who's nominated for a Golden Globe for her highly emotional portrayal of a grieving woman in "Rabbit Hole," says she didn't like using the injections, which are known to tighten up a patient's face to avoid the appearance of wrinkles. "I didn't like how my face looked afterwards,"she says. "Now I don't use it anymore I can move my forehead again!"
Beach-party-themed industry listening events. On Monday night, Kate Perry brought her West Coast vibe to the East Coast, filling the Espace venue with beach balls, sand and lots of funky pop tunes.
On the eve of her "California Gurls" video premiere, Perry played a number of other tracks off the album that mirrored that song's bouncy, summertime pop feel. The title track, the album's reported second single, picks up right where "California Gurls" leaves off. With a strong beat to back her up, Perry sings about a boy who makes her feel like a teenager again.
The next track, which she told the crowd was her "f---ing opus," is a shimmering tune that plays up Perry's vocals and gives a slightly orchestral feel during the song's chorus. Perry next played her party anthem "Last Friday Night," which she explained had a purpose for being on the album: "There's a lot of substance ... but also some no brainers."
She likened the song to "I Gotta Feeling" by the Black Eyes Peas. The midtempo party track recalls all the fun had in past nights. Perry displays some angst on the rock-tinged breakup anthem "Circle the Drain." On it, Perry sings about leaving behind a lover or friend with a substance problem.
Perry slowed things down with the ballad, "Pearl," about a girl who was once a lighthearted woman until someone came along and changed her. She eventually switches the script, and it becomes an empowering song about change.
But the general vibe of the album is levity and partying, emphasized by dance track "The One That Got Away" and the cheerleader-ish, double-entendre-filled "Peacock." The final song previewed is the dreamy, midtempo ode to love, "Not Like the Movies."
Later on, MTV News caught up with Perry, who talked about her strategy of previewing these songs for people. "It's really exciting to do these little beach party, Katy Perry, Teenage Dream listening parties. It's funner — I love that word that doesn't exist — it's funner to do it in this environment, where it's just free and fun and there's a couple of drinks, people are eating, people are socializing, seeing people they haven't seen in a while.
"It looks like it's going to be a sleepless year," Perrycontinued. "It's gonna be really fun. I think we're going to do these type of things, especially for the fans. We're just starting to roll the record out, and it's all beginning again. Although I don't feel like I'm back. I feel like it's a continuum." Watch her:
