Chennai, May 14 : A day after storming to power, emphatically routing the DMK, AIADMK Supremo J Jayalalithaa is all set to be elected as the Party's Legislature Party leader to enable her to assume office as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister for a third term.
The AIADMK had won 150 of the 160 seats it had contested in the April 13 Assembly polls and secured an absolute majority on its own.
A meeting of the newly-elected Legislators is likely be held tomorrow at AIADMK Headquarters in which Ms Jayalalithaa, who got elected from Srirangam, would be formally elected as the Legislature Party Leader.
After her election, she was expected to meet Governor Surjit Singh Barnala, submit the list of MLAs and stake her claim to form the government.
The date and venue of the swearing-in ceremony would be finalised after the Governor invited her to form the Government.
Meanwhile, the party office was decked up to receive the AIADMK leader, who would be visiting it at 1500 hrs today to garland the statue of her political-mentor and Party Founder MGR.
Scores of AIADMK workers had already started thronging the party office in view of Ms Jayalalithaa's visit.
After garlanding the statue of MGR at the party office, the Chief Minister-in-waiting would garland MGR's statue at Spencer's Plaza junction at the arterial Anna Salai.
Later, she would pay homage at the Samadhi of Late Chief Ministers Anna and MGR at Marina before garlanding the statues of Anna at Anna Salai and Rationalist Leader E V R Periyar near the Gemini flyover.
The AIADMK-led Front, which also consisted of DMDK Founder and actor-politician Vijaykanth, CPI, CPI(M) and several fringe parties, won 203 of the total 234 seats, handing out a crushing defeat to the DMK.
